Adcole Sun Sensor Used in NASA's Atlas V Rocket

On June 24th, 2016 An Atlas V rocket launched the fifth and final satellite in the MUOS satellite array into space carrying with it Adcole’s FSS High Accuracy Fine Sun Sensor (FSS data sheet).

Adcole Sun Sensors play a vital role in all types of spacecraft by providing attitude determination, instrument pointing/orientation and gyro updates. The accuracy and reliability of Adcole’s suns sensors have lead to a rich flight legacy as we’ve now been a part of many hundreds of space missions. Our sun sensors have been to Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto and beyond.MUOS (Mobile User Objective System) is the US Navy’s revolutionary communications satellite array developed by Lockheed-Martin to improve secure satellite communications for mobile forces.
