Model 1000 Automatic Surface Finish Measuring Machine

The Adcole Model 1000 represents the state of the art in surface roughness measurement for crankshafts, camshafts and other cylindrical components. The machine is pre-programmed to be positioned at the same locations, scan and report identical measurements for every part. Operators simply need to load and unload the part.

 

In addition to its unprecedented accuracy, this product is also the fastest system for taking critical surface measurements. Crankshafts are typically measured in each quadrant as specified in the part drawings. Camshafts are measured on the opening and closing ramps, as well as, the base circle and top of the camlobe.

The base gage is a rugged self-standing horizontal granite surface plate with affixed headstock, tailstock and carriage. The styli are 5 µm or 2 µm diamond tipped, ruby skidded type. There are three styli: one for axial scans and two for side wall radial scans. Scanned data is immediately available for review on the touchscreen monitor or printing with zoom capability.

Evaluation Standards

Surface finish parameters are measured and evaluated in accordance with definitions established by the International Standards, ISO 4287 – 1997. Other standards that are accepted in specified countries will be reviewed and commented on individually.
