Adcole Model 1000

Cylindrical coordinate surface roughness gage for measuring crankshafts, camshafts and other cylindrical components suitable for the gage lab or shop floor environment.
The ADCOLE Model 1000 represents the latest technology in surface texture measuring. This PC operated gaging system can measure in any location on a cylindrical part in an axial and/or radial direction. With this hands-off type system, there is no human involvement other than to load/unload the part. The gage is pre-programmed to be positioned at the same locations, scan and report identical measurements for every part. In addition to its unprecedented accuracy, this is also the fastest system for taking critical surface measurements. Crankshafts are typically measured in each quadrant as specified in the part drawings. Camshafts are measured on the opening and closing ramps, as well as, the base circle and top of the camlobe.
Specifically designed to measure
  • Camshafts
    - lobes
    - bearing journals
    - thrust surfaces
  • Crankshafts
    - main bearing journals
    - rod journals
    - thrustfaces
    - post and flange diameters
  • Balance shafts
  • Transmission shafts

The base gage is rugged self-standing horizontal granite surface plate with affixed headstock, tailstock and carriage. The stylii are 5 µm diamond tipped, ruby skidded type. There are three stylii: one for axial scans and two for side wall radial scans. Scanned data is immediately available for review on the touchscreen monitor or printing with zoom capability.
