  • Adcole Sun Sensors are used on most US and many international commercial communication satellites. Our Sun Sensors have flown on many types of US government satellite programs, and can be customized for special environmental requirements.
  • Custom designed Adcole Sun Sensors are on board the Messenger satellite en route to Mercury and the New Horizons satellite en route to Pluto. The Messenger Sun Sensor was specifically designed to meet the high heat/high sun intensity requirement at Mercury. The New Horizons system was designed for the wide dynamic range of sun intensity for operation from Earth to Pluto and beyond.
  • Adcole Sun Sensors have flown on many Mars missions including the Mars Exploration Rover, Mars Pathfinder, and Mars Global Surveyor. Other exploration missions include Magellan to Venus, Cassini to Saturn, and numerous Earth and solar observation spacecraft.
  • Adcole Sun Sensors are used on every GPS satellite.
  • All systems can be customized to the power and data interface desired. These interfaces are designed and implemented in house by Adcole engineers to customer specifications. Data interfaces with flight heritage include 1553, single ended serial, parallel, and RS422. Power interfaces include input voltages from 5 to 70V, regulated, and frequency synchronized.
  • Adcole's Marlborough Massachusetts facility includes a Class 100,000 Clean Room, three state of the art solar simulator test stations, thermal vacuum and thermal cycling chambers. EMC and vibration testing are performed at local facilities.
